About The Frangipani (Plumeria) Plant
"The Frangipani smells like no other plant in
the world and each colour has its own unique fragrance".
Originating from Hawaii, there
are over 150 different varieties of Frangipani or Plumeria as it
is also known, each having its
own distinctive flower colour, shape and exquisite fragrance.
Treasured throughout the centuries by the islanders for their
durability, colour and fragrance, Frangipani (also known as the
West Indian Jasmine) are the actual flower used to make the
beautiful "Leis" given as a sign of friendship to people on
their arrival to the island.
Often described as "a plant
for all seasons" patience is a virtue when it comes to growing
the Frangipani, as some can take 3-5 years to first bloom, but
it's well worth the wait, for when they do, flowering can last
up to three months with new blooms being produced every day.
